Machine Learning Ops Lead

What are we looking for?

We are Aya Data, we provide data labelling services to companies with machine learning projects to enable them to train their ML models.  

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to a) be a technical lead in discussions with clients who need data labelling services and b) set up a world class ML consulting function within our business. The ML consulting function will be a first in Ghana, and it will advise clients on how to effectively deliver ML projects e.g. how to structure them, what data is needed at each stage of the life cycle, how to increase model efficacy etc.

You'll be working directly with the Co-founders to develop this new function. As revenue grows the role will evolve into a team lead position with junior data scientists hired under the candidate.

Your Mission

Help us to develop Aya Data from a labelling service provider, into a full stack Machine Learning and AI consultancy – with the capability to develop and deploy ML solutions. Ultimately you'll have the opportunity to manage a growing team of Data Scientists and contribute to growing a business unit from scratch.

What you'll be working on

• Solution Architecture: You will be a first point of contact for existing and new clients who want technical advice on the ML solution they are trying to develop.
• Proposition development: You will be tasked with developing the Aya Data ML consulting proposition from scratch. This will range from understanding what the market needs, who the current providers are, and how to beat them, to designing and implementing process to ensure quality of our service
• Growing a world-class data science team: As the business grows, bring your skillset to the table and help us create the foundations for a high performing team of data scientists

Your Skills and Experience

• Prior experience on Machine Learning and AI workstreams / projects
• Prior experience with Computer Vision and / or Natural Language Processing projects
• Experience managing a team
• Experience working with professionals from the US and the UK
• Analytical mindset and excellent communication and organisational skills
• Highly motivated, strong work ethic and competitive
• Excellent verbal and written English
• You are a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, enjoys a rapid pace and wants to make a difference
